The Recon & Sniper Foundation was founded on the principles that have historically made Recon Marines and Scout Snipers leaders on and off the battlefield. This lineage includes some of the greatest patriots who have served this nation during times of peace and during war. Looking back on those who have built this legacy, we recall the things that they have accomplished and reflect on the truth; that we walk humbly in the shadows of giants. One of those giants of both the Recon and Sniper communities is a man named Ken Sutherby. Ken possesses every positive characteristic of a U.S. Marine, a patriot, a father, and an American warrior. Ken’s resume and accolades are filled with hard work, selfless acts, and heroism. Ken is truly the example we all strive to emulate. We are fortunate and honored to have Ken as a pillar of leadership in the Reconnaissance and Sniper communities.
As a father, Ken has raised his children as you would expect. He has instilled in them a sense of duty, courage, and a level of maturity rarely seen. Ken’s children have all gone off to serve in one way or another as great Americans. While his son Wyatt was attempting to join the U.S. Army with the hopes of becoming a K9 handler, he was tragically diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.. The Sutherby family rallied around Wyatt, but they soon learned of another illness in the family. Wyatt’s sister Erica, a mother with a 2 year old child, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
On October 26th, 2018, Wyatt lost his long and hard fought battle with cancer. The emotional impact on the Sutherby family and the Recon & Sniper communities has been overwhelming. On the battlefield and in our lives, we must stand tall to help our Recon and Sniper brother and his family while they deal with the emotional and financial impact of this terrible disease and loss.
The Recon & Sniper Foundation had a special relationship with Wyatt and in his honor we would like to help the Sutherby family with the mounting medical bills in the wake of his fight. The Recon & Sniper Foundation has partnered with American Precision Arms to raise money for the Sutherby Family. Together we will be raffling off a custom made .300 WinMag rifle valued at $15,000.00 with a VX-6HD 3-18x44mm scope valued at $2200.
